Caitlin E. Eaves
I’m a queer potter based in Takoma Park, Maryland, creating small-batch ceramics for everyday use. My work focuses on simple, functional forms—mugs, bowls, planters—that feel good in the hand and fit easily into daily life. I care deeply about my community, especially the LGBTQ+ community that surrounds and supports me. Whenever I can, I give back through mutual aid, donations, and collaborations with other queer artists and local makers.
By day, I manage a research center at the University of Maryland. On evenings and weekends, you’ll find me in my basement studio—usually covered in clay, listening to podcasts or riot grrrl music, and making whatever comes to mind. I’m originally from Texas, love tending my garden, and am grateful every day for my incredibly patient and supportive wife (thanks, Angie!).
Sustainability is core to my practice. I reclaim clay, recycle glaze waste, and repurpose broken pieces to reduce waste and keep my environmental impact low. Everything I make is shaped with care—for the materials, the process, and the people who bring these objects into their homes.
